ENG 1D

Here is your test outline for next week. It is a two day test and is application based, which means you will take what we have been covering and apply it to a new situation.

Day 1:  You will read a short story (it is very short and related to To Kill a Mockingbird in terms of theme and events).  You will then identify literary devices in the story AND then discuss the affect the device has on the reader (for example if it creates a violent image, makes you hear a noise, creates a dark and creepy tone).  You will then answer short answer questions on the story including connecting the story to our discussions of To Kill a Mockingbird.

Day 2:  You will start by identifying parts of speech in sentences provided. You will not have to parse sentences on this test.  You will be given sentences with words underlined. These are the words you need to identify.  You will then write a literary paragraph based on the short story. You will be expected to use quotes from the short story and cite them properly.

Tonight: READ! and read the handout on Mob Mentality given out today.
