Senior Drama

Today we looked at Uta Hagen and her theory on Movement and Improv in order to prepare for a scene. She stressed the importance of movement in a scene, but also that it is not to take away from the delivery of the dialogue in the scene. So, we have now looked at Stanislavsky, Strasberg, and Hagen. Tomorrow, we will look at our final theory of acting; Meisner.

We also start our preparation for our next scenes. The instructions are as follows:

1. Decide on your group: Monologue = group of 1, two person scene, or small group of 3-4.
2. Find or write a script. Your only criteria is that it must be of a decent length (min 5 min) and that it must be appropriate for school. Once you know your scene, you must get it approved my me.
3. In your preparation for your scene, try out 2 different acting techniques. You may not find you like them or find them useful, but the important thing is that you TRY them. I will be looking for this during your rehearsal time.
4. Rehearse. Rehearse. Rehearse.  Work on the use of your voice as well as your movement. You must MOVE this time as we have been talking about this in class.
5. Present to class, record for class to view, or record for my viewing only.

We will work on this tomorrow and Friday as well as after the break. We will present either late that week or early the following week.
